Online Tender Management Training Portal
This section the website is a training portal for SME and larger businesses and organisations. Many organisations struggle with the complexities of the Prequalification Questionnaire or PQQ stage of the public tender procedures for many different reasons. We not big enough, we’re a start up or in many cases down to very basic errors in completing the questions.
This portal has been developed by SCMG for the Intellectual Asset Centre to help improve suppliers chances when they are bidding for public sector contracts and to avoid the many pitfalls using a number of case studies for Goods, Works and Services in a simulation exercise where participants can complete a PQQ and get feedback on their performance in terms of what they could do to improve.
The Tender Management Training Portal is used by the Supplier Development Programme delivered by the Intellectual Asset Centre for various local authorities and other public bodies in Scotland.
EU Public Procurement
The EU public procurement market place is huge. The market is estimated to be a €2,000 billion market place. UK and Central Government alone accounts for £180 billion of spend. Local Authorities in Scotland spend £8 billion pounds. This is before we even consider other public sectors like defence, health and major capital projects like the London Olympics in 2012 and the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Subject to various financial thresholds public bodies are obliged to publicise and competitively tender contracts. The thresholds are remarkably low and the pressure on the thresholds is downwards. Increasingly public contracts will come under more scrutiny and will have to be publicised in order to achieve Value for Money. If this is a market place you operate in or are interested in then you need to be sure you know the rules and are ready to tender – either to keep existing business or to win new business.
